(bunch of Mustang stuff skipped) could travel very long distances to escort the Allied bombers. It was a great airplane and not just because it was made in great numbers. Jerry Liles I believe that some countries have put a turboprop in the Mustang airframe and are still using it. For a subsonic fighter aircraft it will probably never be equalled. A wonderful design, done without computers, and assembled by master craftsmen and patternmakers who have few equals today. < This message was delivered via the Olympus Mailing List > < For questions, mailto:owner-olympus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > < Web Page: http://Zuiko.sls.bc.ca/swright/olympuslist.html > |
