I do a lot of ag photography, and you shoot the picture where and
when it happens. Likewise with ball players - they don't respond well
to "can you do that again and face INTO the sun this time?"
As many have no doubt surmised by now, I do very little flash
photography. I've survived for 20 odd years on available light, but
there are times that I wish I understood flash a little better.
