I have been too busy working in my digital darkroom all week and haven't gotten
around to comment on the F280 question until this evening.

I have an OM-4T and one each of the F280 and the T32. Although I did get a T32
first and used it in bounce mode, but I have found the bounce feature to be
useless most of the time because you don't find nice white or off-white ceilings
all the time.

My usage of flashes is limited to when I go on travels and need to take people
pictures in not-so-well-lit places. One thing about travel photography is that
you don't want yourself saddled with unneeded equipment. Therefore I have been
packing my F280 instead of T32. F280 is more compact and can do SuperFP as well
as TTL Auto on my 4T. When I was in Scotland, I used my F280 in SuperFP not in
daylight, but in poorly-lit churches and hotel dining room. Using either Provia
1600 or Fuji Super G 800 pushed to 1600, I was able to use the F280 in SuperFP
mode. Using my 85mm/2.0 or 50mm/1.8 in these settings, I did not have a
problem of insufficient fill flash. Mostly my results using manual exposure
settings indicate overexposure rather than underexposure. The results with
Super G 800 were better because of the film's latitude. I could have improved
my results by doing spot metering prior to each shot, but I was too busy
shooting many different frames as I could during part of our rehearsal time.
I'll be shooting music rehearsal sessions later on in October and will get to
try more of this Super G800 + F280 combination on my 4T.

Somebody was talking about his F280 not firing on a 4T earlier. This has
happened to me annoyingly a couple of times. When I realized that it was not
firing, I had to take the F280 out of the shoe and put the flash back on again,
which seemed to have improved the contact.

Therefore I would say that it really depends on what type of flash photography
you do. I might add that the F280 along with a wide adapter was very useful for
my OM2000 at 1/125s sync to use as a fill flash.

BTW, Olympus America finally sent me a photo copy of the OM Flash Group manual
dated 1286, which I requested by phone several months ago.
