Coming late to the show : I saw you find dedicated « wrenches » that look too 
slim to try anything powerful with them. Depending on thier price, I’d try 
glueing two or three of them together to gain thickness and grip without 
damaging the casing much.

Else, Francis my plumber comes within a day when I have this kind of issue ;-)
And we then celebrate his success with a beer or two ;-)
