In order to get that picture, I hiked past a mile of absolutely
beautiful flowers and other forest scenes. Did I take a single
picture? Nooooooo. I hiked right past stuff that would have been pure
gold material in Iowa. It's a bit tough to be interested in macro or
near stuff that could have been photographed anywhere when you are
surrounded by this choir of mountains singing their hearts out.

Part of that is the perceived time restriction. I'm still in "travel
mode" where I think that I have to be photographing everything from
sunrise to sunset. It's wacky when you are watching TV and every
couple of minutes you pause whatever it is you are watching so you can
go look out the window to see what changed. I feel kinda sorry for all
of you who come up here on a trip and have scheduled thousands of
miles of travel over a handful of days. All you can do is bag a few
pictures and hope that they are something other than what Cousin Fred
got last year on his trip.

I've gotten a nice collection of locations that I keep in mind when I
look at the sky. When the sky is doing one particular thing, I'll jump
in the car and head off to one of the locations.
