Yes, I am also using Macrium reflect. Their incremental backups are much smaller than Acronis (and Acronis recently went to a yearly subscription fee).

SyncBack does not do cloning. For a free cloning app I recommend (as,
thank you, someone did here recently) Reflect from Macrium. You can

I have a another commercial application which is far more powerful
than Macrium free edition but I've never needed the power (and
complexity). Macrium free does all that's needed if you simply want a
complete clone of a drive. Fast and efficient and very easy to use in
comparison to my other tool.

Yup, yup. That may have been me recommending it. I'd looked at several
and tried at least one other extensively, Paragon, which had a confusing
interface and didn't let me specify partition sizes properly without a
fight.

Unless I build it and install the OS myself, my computers seem always
to have a couple of extra little partitions, for recovery or some such.
When cloning to a larger drive, Paragon (and I seem to remember another
app) wants to scale all partitions up proportionately.

Macrim Reflect Free allowed me to easily keep those partitions their old
size, and was just generally easier to use.

I've never had occasion to use a close 'cause the original failed. I
have, however, cloned a drive with many, many hours on it onto a little
used HD and swapped, retaining the older HD as back-up. That worked
flawlessly.

I also cloned the mechanical HD on my netbook+ to a larger SSD. I did
have trouble with that at first, but it turned out not to be Reflect's
fault. I needed another Intel driver, which was pretty easy to figure
out with a web search. I guess older hardware needed additional smarts,
and all has been flawless since. The SSD hasn't really sped things up
all that much, still limited by the existing SATA hardware that doesn't
take advantage of its higher speed interface. But it has lengthened
battery life and sped up access when the HD would have been spun down to
save power.
