I think that was my point (although I could be wrong). If you are setting out 
to impress the ignorant and gullible, then flashy knock off works -it goes 
nicely with the T shirt that has Gucci emblazoned across it. Many august brands 
have gone brassy to suck money out of the gullible and upwardly socially 
mobile, especially in emergent economies. The really nice stuff doesn't scream 
- it tends to look understated and feels very nice to use. And often doesn't 
cost a fortune because it isn't encrusted with naff little diamonds.
Audi used to look quite nice until they put fairy lights on the front.
Leica got the message and lost the red dot.
