I would personally do a Linux install and convert it to a special use
computer. But, I'm one of those music industry geeks that uses some
Linux apps for multitrack recording and midi control. I would
personally dedicate the machine to a 100% midi control environment.
Otherwise, yes, upgrade to Windows 7. I absolutely abhore Vista. From
everything I'm seeing so far, Windows 8 is kinda like Vista/ME in this
line of hideous versions. I'm sure Windows 9 will be wonderful.
