 From a practical perspective who cares if you have the full 10mp or 
whatever data of an OOF photo? I happily crank down the ring on my 
135/4.5 macro and don't look back. The higher sensor pixel count has 
other benefits than pure resolution. If one wants to do the focusing 
stage/stacking thing then optimize the aperture of course.
