How can it be masked off by the Waterhouse stop wheel if I can see that
brassy bits in front of the stop wheel? True, a view from the focal
plane through the stop can't directly see the brassy bits but it can
most certainly catch reflections of same off the back of the front
element. But it's just a suggestion for image improvement. For all I
know trying to re-brass the interior might lower the value of the lens.
(like don't clean your coin collection)
