Quite possibly.  The rule of thumb for prevention of red-eye is to 
separate the flash from the optical axis of the lens by 1/20 of the 
distance to the subject. 1/20 of 50 feet is 2-1/2 feet which isn't going 
to be possible... at least not vertically.  But the flash will be 
separated by that much and more horizontally for most everyone in the 
field of view except for a few subjects in the center.  If there is 
red-eye I can handle that easily.  I can't handle blurring due to 
subject motion on long exposures at high magnification.
