Woohoo! The friendly telephone tech just left and after cranking open 
the bits and I'm now seeing the term, _Mbps_ in the download speed 
stats. North of 3.0mbps to be exact. This winter the local telecom 
upgraded the service to the local hub to fibre. We're still about 2+mi 
of rusty wire away but theoretically able to go up to 5mbps. After 
throttling back to 4mbps for overhead and factoring in the 2mi of rusty 
wire I'm really happy. Took a couple of days to beat back the 
attenuation numbers to something reasonable. Good to be in the 20th 
Century finally ;) Now to figure out how to stream Netflix.
