Hi again,

Well, the 0.6m T-cord has arrived, but spare time to play with it has
not...

Some quick comments, as per your remarks/suggestions:

This echoes a concern I also had about it. For some shots I'll be
shooting items with a length of some 60cm, and in others, I may need
to shoot details as small as a few milimeters. Unless the top of the
light tent can open up completely, it would indeed be impractical for
big items, and it may be too restrictive for small items anyway, when
the camera has to be brought within a few centimetres distance of the
subject...

So, let's see the alternatives.

I like this suggestion very, very much:

 >If you were to use umbrellas I'd recommend that you use translucent
 >"brolly boxes" which are a cross between umbrellas and soft boxes. A
 >translucent brolly box is like a shoot through umbrella except that
what
 >would normally be the open side of an umbrella is mostly closed off
with

Funny; I'm not certain I understand them correctly... They are shown
with a black round part, as well as a white round part.... Does one
actually shoot through the round part of the umbrellas (and aim that
at the subject from two sides, with a 45 degrees angle), rather than
having the flash fire into the inside of the round part, which then
bounces the light back through the (normally) open part of the
umbrella, or does one shoot into a (highly reflective) round part,
which then bounces the light back through the open part, that has a
further diffuser cloth ?!?
I'm very interested in this....

This looks very good!
About $17 a piece, including free shipping to The Netherlands!
A lot of people will be apprehensive as the store is located in Hong
Kong, but I have very good experiences with a similar store from over
there that sells CDs like that; makes it about 25%-40% cheaper than
going out to a local store and picking them up over here. ;)

The size given for the ones in the link you mentioned is 36" (i.e. 94
cm), which I think to be a pretty decent size...

Then, I'd need to get it mounted somehow. They also sell these clamps:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-Flash-shoe-umbrella-holder-swivel-mount-bracket-2X-/250665691690?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a5cd6ea2a

However, I'm not certain the T20 auto-connector can be mounted on
that, so for hot-shot mounting (triggering the flash through a side
socket) I'd have to revert to using the T32 + T28.
Do you know of similar clamiping systems that can be screwed on top of
a standard tripod screw, and that allow usage of the T20 auto
connector too?

Cheers,
Olafo

PS: As for what Brian wrote: the space seen in the pics of my set-up
is more or less what I have to work with. A little bit more space can
be cleared around it, but it wouldn't be much bigger than some 2
square metres...
