Thanks for all helpful suggestions on my monitor setup of the Samsung 2350.

Installation of a cheap graphics card and DVI cable to the monitor
seems to have remedied all issues.  Every sq. mm of the screen is now
used for display and the proper ratios are maintained in FastStone and
Photoshop.  I guess the display wants to be all digital.

This is really an awesome display for the money ($200).
