I didn't see similar problem with my E-3, were you using DZ lenses. Other
than the camera itself the only possibility was a non dedicated lens used 
with wrong focal length set on the camera or you have IS lens+IS on body.

No, my E-3 images are as sharp (in pixel level) or better than E-1's image 
when the focus was right but it did has focusing problem consistantly 
with 11-22 and 50-200.
