Here you can see the longest shot I have made with my plain 2 (md) in
Auto mode.
You may calculate how much time the shutter was open, and it was not a
completely dark landscape.

Using "hand" techniques, I calculated 5 deg of rotation of the stars,
so 20 minutes exposure.
Although the photo is nice, it seems that the auto did nothing, ie the
shutter closed because it reached the maximum possible time. Otherwise
you would have a "middle grey" sky, and this is not pleasant.
