Make sure the USB mode is set to Auto.
If the USB mode was set to Control, this will be a problem.
It is best to set the USB mode to Auto.
Page 116 in the E-330 manual.

Plug the camera into the USB port.
Turn on the camera.
On the LCD display select Storage.
Now press OK on the camera.

Or load Olympus Master 2.05, compatible with Mac OS X Leopard.
