Unfortunately, so does OSX. The freebsd innards have been so stripped
down that they don't produce any useful logs. even if you explicitly
tell them to do so on the command line... :(
We had to patch in some utils built from generic freebsd so we could
find & provide a fix for issues we had getting it to talk to other
versions of freebsd. nasty...
