Noise reduction program is very effective in removing noise for digital
camera images. You can shoot at ISO800 or 1600 with E500 still get
acceptable result. To get the best result there are some basic rules:
- never use JPEG, there is always in-camera noise reduction and JPEG
artifacts which damage the regular noise pattern of your image.
- shoot RAW
- convert the file with NO sharpening and noise filtering (Silkypix is a
very good one)
- do not make any adjustment on the exposure/brightness/contrast.
- save as 8 or 16 bit Tiff
- filter the file with your favorit noise reduction program (I use Nate
Image)
You also need to prepare a noise profile with the calibration target. The
setting should be the same as the files you are going to filter.
