I have not been to NYC for many years and didn't have any problems when
there. The thing I hate most about cities is the damn graffiti and we are
now getting that here in this little village. Some is very skillfully
rendered and worthy of being photographed but the overall effect is bad.
People here think everything about big cities is bad but that just isn't
true. NYC is teeming with energy. You can feel it build in the morning and
quickly rise to a frantic pulse. I know people that could not imagine living
anyplace else. I prefer the boonies. /jmac

But, they're not deceiving now. The NY you describe is nothing like the
NYC of today. The crime rate was pretty bad once. Things change, even
Harlem is up and coming and expensive. Even Clinton has his office
there. For at least the last decade, the crime rate has been of the
lowest of all cities. You want lousy control of crime, try LA or Houston.
