I just think that there is some form of "magic" in seeing an image
come to life on a chemical print. After all these years I just love
watching for the first sight of the image popping up on the paper.
The sound of jazz playing on the stereo, the clicks of the timers,
the odor of stop bath. Aaah. The stillness of the darkroom is
probably the most enjoyable--the world is shutout. It's quiet, dark
and no external interruptions. YOU are in control.

In a way, it's the ultimate "stop the world, I want off" environment.

My digital B&W is totally unfulfilling. There is nothing
satisfactory about it, in my book. I totally enjoy dodging and
burning in the darkroom. Digital tonal adjustments look cartoonish
in comparison.
