This has turned into a major issue for those who store movies.
Restoration of old films is booming.  From what I've read, whole films
are thought to be lost and sections of others are unrecoverable.  Some
of the problems are down to poor storage, others to material decay.

One of the better discussions I've seen of this subject is on the
bonus disk included with the 'The Who - The Kids Are Alright (Special
Edition)'.  If offers a series of short features that provide
overviews of the various restoration processes.  It was a bit of shock
for me as I assumed such problems occurred to Old Films, not Rock
Docs, but I was clearly wrong and a lot older than I realized.  ;o)

BTW, Entwistle started out in a kind of class of his own (on 'My
Generation') and continued to get better.  And makes it look easy!  I
recently watched 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown' and bassist Bob
Babbitt (how's that for alliteration?) specifically mentions being
impressed with the Ox.

This may be the most off topic item I've ever posted ot the list . . .
