If you are intending to see wildlife, the bells will make sure that won't
happen. I've heard the bells were used so much in Glacier National Park that
they became like dinner bells for the bears. It's best to not supprise the
Griz. I've never seen one in the wild except in Yellowstone. /jmac

Yes and in Grizzly country for the same reason make certain you can run
faster than your companion.

I've also heard that wearing bells to make noise to alert the bears and
having pepper spray handy is a good idea.  That is until I was told you
could recognize grizzly scat by the bells and the pepper smell.
