My experience with the E-camera is that I loose a lot of pixels doing
trapezoidal corrections. I have to shoot much wider than I would using a
shift lens. Perhaps if I were better at visualizing what is going to be cut
off, I could frame tighter.

The shift lenses give immediate feedback. I am quite likely to frame the
picture differently and shoot from a different position when using one
versus taking a picture knowing I'll do trapezoidal corrections on it later.
The software correction is very useful though. Just not as useful as a shift
lens. YMMV

As long as you have a high res image to start with or you don't make
terribly large corrections. Geometric distortion of the images
necessarily squashes and stretches pixels density in the areas being
squashed and stretched. OK if you've got plenty of pixels to go around.
