In 1990 we had a big nor'easter that blew down an old fir next to our
house. A lot of trees went down during that storm. I had a friend come
over with his mobil sawmill and cut it up into boards which I took to
another friend in the flooring business to kiln dry and mill into
flooring. Anyway 16 years later it is still going strong with plenty of
'character'. Needs to be refinished as fir is relatively soft much like
southern pine. Not a defect in my book as I rather like the rustic look.
