Some lovely shots there. Yeah, I know, "standard fare", still a bit down
on yourself, eh?

You are right about B&W, at least with the A1. Not really bad, but
something off with the tones and transition smoothness.

Still, it seems to me there is more in many of the images than you are
showing. I've taken the liberty of posting alternate versions of four of
your shots <http://www.moosemystic.net/Gallery/Others/GCanyon/index.htm>.

10 - I rather like the mood of this one as is. But I was also interested
to see if the "calendar shot" was in there too. I really like the way it
is possible to compensate for problems that would make a certain shot
impossible when you are there. The bright and shiny calendar shot here
would only be possible with perfect light and probably after a rainstorm
to clear the air. Can't use a warming filter to take out the blue haze
without overdoing the foreground, but the weather, time of day and haze
are all putty in the hands of PS. Of course with the original size file
the transitions between the zones could be more subtle. Still, I rather
like the after 'look'.

17 - Too dark for my taste. Maybe the bright snow threw off the
exposure? Separate layer for highlights to avoid blowing them, then a
bit of LCE and curves for the rest.

20 - LCE for the foreground, curves for the sky give it a little pop.

24 - As I often do first round, I probably went overboard on this one,
but any middle ground is possible simply by varying layer opacity.
Foreground left alone, main subject LCE & curves, clouds separate
curves. Quite a bit of noise even at iso 100 here, but I was mostly
interested in playing with tonality, so I didn't bother with it.

I'll be interested to see how some film shots look.
