PMA 2006 only officially started yesterday and still has three days to 
run.  I wouldn't get excited over no E-3 announcement until Wednesday 
has come and gone.  They're probably still trying to absorb Canon's D30 
announcement that they've stopped at 8MP.  It might have had a big 
effect on what they intended to announce.  It ain't over 'til it's over.
