I bought a used Tamron 35-105/2.8 few months ago and have just really used it
last week for family pictures. The results seem quite good (I am not a pro).
My only experience with zoom was with a 28-105/3.5~4.5 C*non E*O*S and it
never convince me.
I have not found the original hood for it.
But found the Hama 92967(?) 24-200mm rubber hood for 67mm with a 72mm filter
thread at 15 € useful.
Just for sharing my first good experience with zoom lens (except the minimum
focusing distance...;-)
