For those of you still using Paint Shop Pro, I was able to get an
upgrade to PSP 9 from PSP 7 for about $50. Actually it was 5 seats for
$245 or so. I have not tried any of the competing brands of software,
so even if I had any skill in using it (I don't) I cannot make a
meaningful comparison of the relative merits.
Another item that may be of interest to this discussion is, Corel has
just bought JASC, the creators of PSP. Others more in tune with the
software business can better speculate whether that is a good thing or
not. For myself, I am hoping they will continue to improve and compete
against the likes of Photo shop. Otherwise I have signed my coworkers
and myself to an software package without a future. We will see how it
works next week when the upgrades arrive.
