The original metal switch lever (diameter 6.4mm) was replaced with an
improved plastic version, CE0976 (diameter 7.0mm). The bushing that held
the switch was replaced at the same time.

The plastic levers began to break in droves and were subsequently replaced
with another metal lever, CE1130, of the same diameter. Unfortunately, the
brass stop post in the improved bushing was too high for the new metal lever
so the post had to be milled down to get the new improved metal lever to
fit.

Of course, all these parts are no longer available.

So here are your options:

1. Find a used OM-2 top cover with a good switch lever and exchange tops.

2. Find a damaged OM-2 or OM-2n top cover with a good switch lever and
transfer the parts. If you are fortunate (?) enough to find one with a
plastic lever that hasn't broken yet, you can get by with simply moving the
lever alone over. But realize that the "new" plastic lever will likely
break soon, too. We've been known to reinforce the plastic levers with a
bit of JBWeld, especially if we note stress marks/cracks on them.

3. Find an OM-1n top cover with a plastic lever and move the lever over to
your OM-2 top cover -- some OM-1n's used the same plastic lever and the
2/2n, but there's no way to tell until you remove it whether it's plastic
or not. The good thing is that because there's no battery check spring to
press against, there's less stress placed on the OM-1n switches, so they're
less likely to break as quickly. But they will some day.

4. If you do happen to find a new version metal lever (CE1130), it will be
necessary to mill down the brass post in the bushing to about half it's
original height to get it to fit. We use a Dremel tool with a milling
bit -- carefully!

Good luck!
