Hmm. Not sure I agree with you on this once. I would have said that films used to be close to 90 mins in length but now typically are so bloated and overblown that they can't be cut to less than two hours and often run to much, much more. Tarantino's Kill Bill couldn't even be edited down enough to fit into one film and is being released as two. The worse bit is that the films often have absolutely no reason for being as long as they are and are not any better for it.

Now the movies are usually shorter than 1 and 1/2 hour.
This "allows" you to see the crap that one or several generous corporations put out in form of commercials and "stretch" it to exactly 2hrs.
Even if I am off, should not be too far...:)
