One pin moves the coupling ring inside the body up and down as you turn the
diaphragm ring on the lens, this makes shutter speed change in the
viewfinder, etc.  It has no affect on auto exposure, which is read off the
film.

The other pin or lever stops the lens down to shooting aperture as the
mirror goes up. That one is important. Though,  in auto OTF, you get the
shutter speed based on how much light comes through the lens, not what click
stop the lens is set to.
