Very interesting Frank.  Yes, you are right that the connections "back" from
the DC input jacks go to the NiCad Control Grip end, but not to the MD end.
That means (I think) that it is not possible to use the relay cord with an
external power supply to power the Motor Drive unless you have a Control
grip attached - and the implication is that had better be the 18V Control
Grip, not the 15V Control Grip!

BUT your point about the M.AC Control Box is off target, because that
REPLACES the Control Grip.  You can't connect both to the relay cord, and
thus it couldn't charge the NiCad at all.
