The most expensive motor home I have seen was about two million dollars. It
was extravagance beyond common sense. Mine is about 20 years old and is a
custom-built rolling hospital room for my invalid wife. I hope it lasts a
long time because I can't afford to replace it, even though it is a cheaper
one. We spent about $6000 updating it last year so it should be good for a
few more years. We have a garage for it so that helps prevent sun and snow
damage. The longest we have lived in ours was about a month. We usually
don't go for more than a couple of weeks. Motor homes can be a pain in the
ass but it's the only way we can travel. It's convenient to be able to stop
when and where you want. We frequently stop at truck stops and are lulled to
sleep by the sound of running diesel engines. /jim

EXACTLY!

The rig you describe is probably a Provos/Featherlite. A few
cows died for the leather interior. The trailer you mention is
most likely setup for hauling showcars or racecars. It isn't
uncommon to find these things hauling a showcar and a daily
driver. The motorcoaches are available in lengths up to 45
feet. Those are big mommas and with the two-car trailer runs in
the million dollar range brand new. $595,000? Must be about
four years old and 150,000 miles.

How's that for depreciation?

Living here on I-80, there are probably 200 similar rigs driving
by every day.

Then there are the "Entertainer" busses...
