I went to the Maui Kite Flying Championships yesterday and I saw many
Canons and those lovely EL 600 and me next to them with my 4Ti and
Tamron's 400 f/4.

Nikon has a hard time to compete with Canon, see who is dominant in the
Pro
market you will know. Nikon is still ok since they have a good
reputation in
the pro market in the old days and there are still lots of fans. They
should
get better now with the new superwide zoom for digital but we have to
wait
and see how Canon react. I agree for many pros they don't need high
resolution but for advance amateur we need that. Sony is coming out a
8MP DC
soon (I know it is a small sensor), when the price of higher MP CCD
drops
the MP war will start.
I'm really disappointed on the low resolution E-1 sensor, I need the
best I
can afford. I still have film and 10D both are better in resolution, I
can
wait. I believe the E-1 will attract some pros unfortunately very few
people
in the local camera News group interested in it except one or two
Olympus
fans who still not invest in DSLR yet. There are simply not enough
reasons
for them to buy a DSLR with lower MP and higher price. For the amateur
we
all talk about resolution color and contrast when we compare lenses, I
don't
see how it will be changed today. The E-1 is tested to be poorer in
resolution when compared to other 6MP DC that are cheaper the only thing
that attract me is the 50-200 F2.8-3.5 zoom.
