Since I recently had a CD explode inside and wipe out my drive, I don't much
like the idea of adding mass (inevitably off-center) of any amount to the
CD. I just write on 'em with a Sharpie.

I've had excellent results on Avery 8692 "Matte White CD/DVD Labels" but all
I'm putting on it is a color graphic and black text.
I'm printing it at the highest possible res on my inkjet printer to render
the text as sharp as possible.

I figure my cost is about $1/label including ink (US Dollars) which seems
in*cred*ibly high to me. The cost of the Glossy label
stock is almost twice that!

I don't know about you, but I think printing photos on Matte paper is a
waste of a good image.

Rather than print on label stock, I'd advise you to put your photos on
glossy paper as George Eastman intended!

Only the Lord knows how long that adhesive is going to last anyway.....
