VAT itself is only (!) 21 0n France so unless your repair was very
expensive...
But as already mentioned by others, there are other ways they'll get you,
such as customs agents' fees, duties, VAT on the fees and duties, VAT on
the P&P, and no doubt VAT on the VAT too.
Gotta pay for all that free healthcare and education somehow I guess.
