Remaining cognizant of Clint and John's comments, there are still other factors possibly at work here.

To the extent that all readings are taken with the lens wide open and vignetting is more prevalent with wide angle lenses, some exposure reading differences could be expected. In complex scenes, changing the focal length changes the area covered by both kinds of readings and results in different readings. A wall, card, etc. that appears evenly illuminated to the human eye may not appear so to a light meter, giving a similar result. The 'spot' area is not absolute, but a certain portion of the overall angle of coverage of the lens.

You'll find that spot meter reading will change depending on what lens you
use. I think this was discussed here a couple of years ago. It is noted in
the multi page repair manual list of "things the OM-4 does that people may
think are defects, which cannot be fixed no matter what........." Really!

So I assuming the Om2s does the same thing? My 18-28mm third party reads
quite differently on spot metering than say a 50/1.8 (same light source).
