New technology is *good* in that it has the *potential* to improve a
product. The application of new technology is often short-sighted, or
ill-advised. Examples would include automated mechanical ironing
systems, when the real solution was permanent-press fabric, and
push-button "one-shot" lubrication systems in cars, when the answer was
permanently sealed ball joints (not too sure about this one - we still
install zerk fittings).

The advantage of investing in trailing-edge technology is that the hard
lessons have been learned on the other guy's dime.
