This is NOT the paint on the MD and battery caps. That paint was custom
mixed and sprayed with a gun. May be better or worse, but certainly
different.
The Plasti-Kote is something he suggested I try for other restoration
that was commercially available and would come close to matching the Oly
black. I want to try repainting a couple of bottom plates. With your
heads-up, I'll be sure to check hard/toughness.
As to the rust, on their web site they say you must use the correct
primer with it to prevent rust. I don't know if that would actually
help, just what I read. Not an issue on the brass on my cameras!
