I'm tempted to reply with Olympus model numbers, but I think a more generic
response would be more useful. There are a number of manufacturers who make
digicams with the features she should find useful. It sounds like she's
going to be doing a fair amount of close-up and near subject images as her
pieces are fairly small-scale. Features I recommend she consider:

* LCD display, as well as separate viewfinder
* macro capability using LCD viewfinder for framing
* minimum 3-to-1 optical zoom for fine framing adjustment
* tripod mount
*threaded lens ring for adding filters, tele- and wide-angle adapters
* minimum 3 megapixels resolution (overkill for the web, but best quality
results from starting with extra pixels)
* CF or Smartmedia card memory (MMC and SD are too new)
* uses standard AA size batterys (use NiMH or NiCd rechargables)
* buy the appropriate memory card reader for transferring files to the
computer

I think Olympus, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Hitachi, Fuji, Toshiba, Kodak, etc all
have digicams with all or most of the features suggested. Price and quality
will vary, but there doesn't appear to be any need to get the 'absolute
newest model' for her requirements, so the 600GBP budget should be more than
adequate.

When she gets her website up point out the url, the art sounds interesting.
