Thanks Clint,

After some more testing I think you hit it on the head. With the
teleconverter in place when it locks up if I press the DOF button (closing
the aperture) the shutter closes and mirror returns.

The teleconverter is a Telemore95 II 7-K-M-C made by Komura. 7 element
multicoated 2x teleconverter. Do you know anyone who could do a CLA? Is it
worth doing a CLA on this teleconverter ?

Cheers!

1. Too much resistance to the camera's mechanism due to the
teleconverter.
2. Too much resistance to the camera's mechanism due to cold lubricants
in
the camera, lens and/or teleconverter.

In other words, if it happens again in warm weather, dump the
teleconverter. If it happens again in cold weather, move south.
