If you become a famous photog, then you can make money and still be
original, because people will buy it. Many a painter of the past was
not acknowledge in their lifetime, yet their creative drive is what
they followed, often in spite of rejection and poverty. If Picasso
scribbles lines on a paper, people will pay good money for it. It's
ironic. My friend says his father lost all his creativity as soon as he
went pro, because he stop shooting for himself and started shooting for
others. I admire anyone who struggles to make money at photography, and
can still get 10% ME in it.

Right now I am very interested in the creative process, for myself and
for ways to help others find theirs. I want to learn how to break
barriers to my seeing. I've been practicing something taught to me that
seems to help a lot. For me to get the creative juices going, I have
to confront some deep seated anxiety. It seems, if I don't feel this
anxiety, I'm caught in the fog of memory. The technique I was taught
involves working with consciousness without memory (or should I say,
consciousness without history). I think anything original has to break
the barrier of our history, and that is often accompanied with anxiety,
but at the same time there is excitement and life force. And what
sometimes results surprises even me.

One another note, my friend made a very interesting point. He said I
need to really edit down my photos. That that is the only way to see
where to take the next step, to see where I am going. I would be very
interested in hearing about other peoples observations on their
creative process.
