Well, I went and pulled out two of my 50/1.4's that fit this criteria.  One
is s/n 1013869 and is labelled MC, the other s/n 1154770 with no MC marking.
When comparing them side by side, it's obvious that the 1013869 one has a lot
more green reflection than the 1154770.  There are other obvious differences,
the lens mount of the newer one is a two piece design whereas the older one
is a single piece.  You can clearly see that the part of the mount which
contains the DOF scale is a different part than the bayonette mount.  It
also has the works "JAPAN" stamped into it instead of the words "LENS MADE
IN JAPAN".  There are other minor mechanical differences between the lenses,
it's obvious the two lenses are not exactly the same, at least not from a
mechanical build point of view.
