heh, FIVE Alps MD-5000 died on is in 1 1/2 years. Beautiful prints, incredible temperamental printer. They kept replacing it within the first year. When the last one died, we bought an Epson 1280.

Still have a whole bunch of Alps supply :-( Anyone wants them cheap?

I was momentarily interested in a Alps printer until I lifted the cover. What a Rube Goldberg device. I am not surprised they were not reliable.
