As the owner of a 2Sp, this statement kind of hurts... But as an EE student
it also leads me to ask the question on what is on these circuits that burns
out.

Are these proprietary semiconductors that can't be found, scrounged, or
ordered? I'd assume they're surface mount devices from the size
constraints. Even then, is it one of these irreplaceable components that
bites the dust or is it something else in the chain?

Anyone have a photo of the board? A schematic of this mystical circuit? A
dead board to study?

I may be biting off more than I can chew by saying this, but what
technically is stopping me from putting this circuit into my CAD software,
routing some boards, and spending a month or two studying this thing between
classes? I've got lots of non-photographic toys to play with here at
school...

Just thinking. Sometimes it gets me in trouble :)

PS - My 2Sp is in John H's hands at the moment... Hopefully its just an oily
magnet or something, otherwise I might just get that dead board sent back to
me in a few weeks :( The wait is the worst part!
