Michael,

I am a previous EE student, and I have also
dis-mantled/repaired an OM4 and seen the type of
circuits that are used on these cameras. It may be
possible to replace the offending IC's if they are
still available now (most are made by Sharp) it would
be extremely difficult and time consuming, they are
mounted onto thin flexible plastic film with integral
copper tracks, it isn't impossible to solder on to
this (I have done it) but to remove and replace a
complete chip would be very difficult, thats if you
could get hold of any at all. In short its simply not
worth it.

Chris
