Mercury is nasty stuff. It bio-accumulates. This means that it finds a
spot it likes (bone marrow if I remember right) and gathers there over time.
It doesn't get filtered by the kidneys.
As to the widely held, oft-heard opinion that "I'm okay, so mercury can't be
so bad after all", well.... it's rumored that an early sign of mercury
poisoning is the compulsion to gather, clean, fondle, trade, and discuss
inanimate objects. :)
