Indeed, in real life things do get broken. It's obvious that the God of
All Things Plastic saw my words, and was not pleased. I loaned a Vivitar
flash, a sensor cord, and a light stand to a friend last week. He
brought it back late yesterday in pieces. It has broken sensor cord and
the flash has problems with something internal. Replacing the broken
sensor cord resulted in smoke pouring from the inside of the head unit.
I guess I can still say "I've never broken a  flash shoe" right?
:-(

My comment wasn't made so much to slam the OM's as to point out that I
don't think the design or quality of the OM shoe setup is up to that of
the rest of the camera.

It's just my $.02, and it didn't cost you a thing.
