Somewhere in production of the PC they changed the specs on the mirror,
enlarging it. When an old style mirror fell out and you wanted to replace
it, you couldn't just glue a new one in because the glass was now too big
for the frame. So, you had to completely disassemble and swap frames.
While a PC and 4T mirror may look the same, they have different part
numbers. It's possible the glass from one will fit the other.

| Hi folks,
|
| any suggestions how to fix this:
|
| In a sequence shot with a winder with one of my bodies (OM40/PC) I
'killed'
| the first part of the reflex mirror. What happens exactly is that the
first
| transparent mirror falls of it place. It is not broken - lucky me.
| There are three points of glue that holds the glass.
| I think I'll try to clean the old glue of the mirror backside and
| the small metall thingy that holds it. And then ?
| Which glue will be good enough on mirror glass ?
| I don't want to fix it half way and then found the mirror broken
| in one of the next shots just because the glue didn't do the job.
|
| Just for info:
| During the examination of the metal frame for the mirror
| I found some difference to my other OM40/PC body:
| The mirror frame of the body #11xxxxx (with the mirror fallen off)
| looks exactly like the one in my OM4Ti.
| The mirror glass fills nearly the full mirror box, the metal frame
| has on the left and right side only thin edges.
| The mirror glass of the first body #10xxxxx is somehow smaller.
| The edges of the metal frame on the left and right side is around 1.5mm on
| each side and the mirror glass is this amount shorter.
| Anyone found this too ? Did Olympus changed this point or is it
| possible that the body #11xxxxx was repaired before I bought it
| and the service staff know these parts are interchangable ?
|
|
| Greetings
